Echoes
Group Exhibition • September 7-20, 2024
Parola Gallery 2, UP College of Fine Arts
“Echoes” invites viewers on a journey of self-reflection and exploration across a captivating series of paintings and photographs by Jackie Lozano, Johann Guasch, and Bianca Lesaca.
As the title suggests, “Echo” resonates with feeling and thought; encapsulating the reciprocal relationship between the artist and their creations. Much like how an echo reverberates through the vast landscapes, these works manifest as visual reflections of the artists' inner worlds, capturing moments of self-discovery and the evolution of a unique voice.
Through an alchemy of textures, form, and colors, each artist’s personal introspections become a celebration of the boundless possibilities that emerge when creators have the courage to fearlessly be themselves.
Jackie Lozano
Jackie's collection captures the quiet, often overlooked moments of daily life, revealing their hidden beauty. Through self-reflection, her work mirrors the inner landscape, encouraging understanding and acceptance. She hopes viewers find a moment of calm in her art, connecting with their own reflections and deepening their self-acceptance.
johann guasch
Johann Guasch (born in Manila,1989) is a photographer and a fine art printer based in Manila. He uses macro photography as his visual expression—a picturesque craft that explores an otherworldly landscape-like imagery.
Johann’s work blurs the line between reality and imagination, using macro photography to reveal the surreal within the natural world. Each image transforms familiar scenes into otherworldly landscapes, highlighting their beauty and complexity. His collection invites viewers to explore the extraordinary within the ordinary, inspired by his fascination with nature's wonders.
Bianca Lesaca
Bianca Lesaca is a Filipino painter and children's book illustrator. After over a decade of commercial work, she began creating abstract paintings as a form of play and decompression. This exercise allowed her to venture in and out of contained narratives, expanding her practice beyond singular, fixed images.
Bianca's collection serves as a visual diary, capturing slices of life and evolving narratives. Each piece is a chapter in an ongoing story, where layers of paint, pastel, and graphite form colorful essays shaped by time. Free from expectation, the work developed organically like a candidly worded speech, ecompassing all the flaws and stuttering inconsistencies we normally polish out before facing a crowd. Bianca invites viewers to observe these subtle transformations as they reflect the beauty and quiet complexities of daily life.
