MARIGOLD SUMMER
Marigold Summer is a gentle nudge—an invitation to journey through the challenging paths of inevitable growth the artist has taken since her last shows, Hero (2018) and Awakening (2020).
It is the collection of the results borne of spontaneous salvos in her process of catharsis and creative release. While the themes may deal with images of unburdening, duality, jagged lines, heavy strokes, and gray and neon, creation and ideation remain prevalent. It is in this ephemeral shifting from dictation to conception—the dry spells of summer to the drops of rainfall—that we find the message of the artist: Reclaim one’s identity, liberty, and happiness.
Marigold Summer reminds us to live not idyllically but in seasons of death, rebirth, and growth. That in the heat of our perpetual summer, we are all unfurling blooms.
PAINTINGS
The artist painted the pieces in Marigold Summer completely driven by desire, time, and emotion, contradicting the methods she pursued for both shows prior—endless mood charts, studies, and color tests, giving the current show a familiar and comforting newness. The warmth of the themes seems to extend and contort with the figures, straight into the viewer’s core to ruminate and enjoy.
