OFFERINGS
In the wake of loss, ‘Offerings’ is a quiet remembrance. A gift that murmurs I wish you were still here.
Grief is a meteor crater that can feel endlessly barren, a scar in our earth almost impossible to live with. This series shows how grief can soften when faced with the memories of those we miss.
Each flower is memorialized as eternally in bloom—the way they looked the last time they faced the sun, as if to say I will always know you. Every stroke of light is gentle and the shadows even gentler, and love that emerges despite the hurt of absence is the gentlest of all. The people we lose are the people we hold forever.
The exhibit is a way to remember those who are no longer with us. The flowers breathe, as if just freshly picked, and are carefully tied up with a ribbon like they’re meant to be given to someone special. The colors are a gentle wash of warmth that were chosen in the moment of painting, a result of finding clarity in the middle of meditation. Each small painting is an intimate glimpse of finding solace in the middle of grief.
The crater will always be a crater, but beautiful things can still grow in it.
